The Importance of Resistance Training:
Weight lifting has been considered the fountain of youth. Everyone, regardless of age or gender, should incorporate resistance training into their daily regimen. Effective resistance training has the potential to stimulate the metabolism for 24-36 hours. Cardiovascular training alone stimulates the metabolism for approximately 2-5 hours. Weight training will decrease risk of osteoporosis, decrease risk of heart disease and diabetes, and improve strength and athletic performance. As a personal trainer, I feel it is highly beneficial to incorporate traditional weight lifting into your exercise program. Form and technique are crucial to prevent injury and ENSURE EFFECTIVENESS, so be sure to seek the instruction of a professional when beginning a strength training program.
